ATX DAO Blueprint

Mission Statement

ATX DAO is a city DAO working to build a cohesive network of crypto professionals and enthusiasts seeking to push Austin to become a leading city in the Web3 economy. We strive to enable artists and local businesses to participate in the crypto ecosystem and to educate the government about the benefits of Web3.

Core Values

Integrity: Integrity creates trust. As a decentralized organization, collectively, it’s our most valuable asset. Individually, it’s the constant choice to infuse every action with honesty, fairness, and respect for our members and Austin citizens.

Innovation: Innovation motivates action: to take risks, encourage curiosity and new ideas, learn from mistakes, and constantly strive to exceed expectations. Through innovation, we seek to onboard Austin into the Web3 economy.

Durability: We want to create something worth creating, something that will endure the test of time. We do this by relentlessly focusing on the quality of our network in order to have the skills and knowledge necessary to positively impact the city and transform it into the de-facto crypto hub in the country.

Community: Above all, we're a community. That means we show up for each other, act with empathy, and empower all community members to become their best selves. We're growing this organization not for our own personal gain, but for Austin and each other.

Transparency: We pride ourselves on providing complete visibility into the successes, and sometimes failures, of our organization as we grow and scale. It is an integral part of our culture as we collaborate and work towards our common goals.

Chapter 2: Governance

Committees are working groups within the DAO. Members can contribute to any project, but serve on a primary committee. Each committee has an elected chair.

There are 2 terms for Committee Chairs:

Contested Seats (Week 1) In the first week of an election month, contested seats will be determined. If a committee seat is not contested, the current chair will continue in their role into the next term. A committee seat is considered contested if

  1. The current chair announces that they are resigning from their position.
  2. A challenger candidate submits a bid for the seat with signatures of support from at minimum 5 DAO members.

Platform Solicitation (Week 2) Candidates for contested seats are given one week to prepare and discuss their platform for election.

Platform presentations (Week 3) A general meeting is held at the beginning of this week, giving an audience for official platform presentations from the candidates. The remainder of the week is reserved for discussion of the candidates amongst DAO members.

Vote (Week 4) At the beginning of this week, a series of snapshot proposals are posted with the following information:

Voting will be conducted via ranked choice voting (IRV) and will be open for 1 week.

Each voter may rank any number of choices. Votes are initially counted for each voter's top choice. If a candidate has more than half of the vote based on first-choices, that choice wins. If not, then the choice with the fewest votes is eliminated. The voters who selected the defeated choice as a first choice then have their votes added to the totals of their next choice. This process continues until a choice has more than half of the votes. When the field is reduced to two, it has become an "instant runoff" that allows a comparison of the top two choice head-to-head.
