How do we make ATX DAO successful and by what metrics?
Market-sizing exercise
There are ~20,000 software developers located in Austin. Doubling this number to account for the operational, social, and creative personas in the tech community gives us a rough TAM of ~40,000 individuals.
Because ATX DAO is focused on building a quality community of active participants, our desired maximum size is a fraction of this TAM.
Successful DAOs like FwB have about 2000 members, with growth targets of several thousand +. Considering all this context, the following would be a reasonable size goal for ATX DAO by the end of CY22.
25 Genesis NFT Holders
500 Community NFT Holders
1000-2000 Discord Members
Governance token
At the end of CY22, with a total voting community of ~500 members, ATX DAO will be in a position to move from NFT-exclusive governance to a more liquid tokenized governance via $ATXD. Tokenizing will allow the DAO to achieve our goal of progressive decentralization while also rewarding participation of early members and volunteers. Tokenomics and structure for this shift are to be determined over the course of CY22, but $ATXD tokens will be reserved for NFT holders in some proportion, incorporating variables like: type of NFT held, tenure in the DAO, and work contributed to the community.
Community
Unlike DAO projects such as Friends with Benefits or ConstitutionDAO, ATXDAO members are located in Austin and share physical space while executing decentralized governance. Having a headquarters in Austin, Texas will allow our organization to deliver the most meaningful and valuable experiences across layers 0 (the universe/’meatspace’) and 1 (the metaverse).
One of our priorities this calendar year will be creating incredible experiences for networking and education, both in public and through private, high-value social events available to DAO members.
